Fitflop named as title sponsor for Shooting Stars Benefit

Proceeds raised from the 2011 event will be donated to Make-A-Wish Foundation UK, a charity that grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. Since its launch in 1986, the charity has granted over 6,700 wishes.

“Make-A-Wish Foundation UK celebrates its 25th anniversary this year; therefore I am particularly pleased to confirm that proceeds from the tournament will help grant the wishes of children who are fighting a life-limiting condition. I am incredibly grateful to FitFlop for its support and I am looking forward to taking part in the event where we will all be trying to raise as much money as possible,” said Samuel L Jackson.

Maria Kilgore, Founder and creative Director of FitFlop commented: “Money raised from this 2011 tournament will help grant the wishes of some of the 20,000 children and young people in the UK with life-threatening illnesses. We are thrilled to be part of making that happen”.

“We are delighted and extremely grateful that Make-A-Wish is the chosen charity for this year’s Shooting Stars Benefit. Each year we have more and more wishes to fulfil and its support like this which helps us to grant them.” Neil Jones, Chief Executive Make-A-Wish Foundation UK

The tournament comes complete with a Pairing Dinner at Britain’s luxury goods establishment Aspreys, London on Wednesday (3 August) and a closing ball on Friday (5 August) held at the Royal Courts of Justice, featuring an auction of extraordinary experiences.

Notes to editors:
At FitFlop, we create irresistible shoes that feel great too. Launched in Spring 2007 after a collaboration between biomechanists Dr David Cook and Darren James (of London South Bank University) and Marcia Kilgore (founder of Bliss® spas and Soap & Glory® cosmetics), our footwear was originally designed to help busy women squeeze a little more exercise into their schedules. But when they reported that lapsing back into regular shoes had become almost impossible – thanks to our amazing Microwobbleboard™ midsole - we decided to create a multi-season collection for every occasion, with fun, fresh designs that all feel incredible underfoot. FitFlop footwear is now sold in 52 countries. To find out more, visit fitflop.com.

About FitFlop technology:

FitFlop footwear features patent-pending Microwobbleboard™ technology, which can help increase leg and bottom muscle activity, absorb more shock in the lower legs and reduce foot pressure concentration.
